Make Money Reselling On ebay

I have to admit, reselling on ebay this has become my new favorite hobby/side hustle. This isn’t something that would have allowed me to quit my day job (although many people do very well as a reseller). If you are looking for a way to make money online, I can say that this has definitely helped me bring in some extra cash. It takes very little effort and very little money to start.

What Is An ebay Reseller

In case you have never heard the term “Reseller”, it’s pretty much exactly as it sounds. A Reseller is someone who buys an item at a low cost (or gets it for free) and then sells it for a profit. Simple enough right? In all honesty, it really can be pretty easy. Like all things, the more time and energy and research you put into it, the better you will do.

How To Get Started Reselling On ebay

Getting started is actually really simple. There are a few things you need to get setup and ready so you have a good foundation but once you have a system in place, you will be ready to go. I am going to go over setting up your ebay account, finding good items for resale, packaging and shipping and some helpful free tools.

Setting Up Your ebay Account

Setting up your ebay account is easy and completely free. You can quickly sign up using your Facebook account or signing in with a google account. From my experience, I would suggest setting up a separate email account just for your ebay seller account to make managing it much easier.

If you like using Gmail, you can set up a new Gmail account first and then when you are ready to set up you ebay account, you can click on the option to use a google account and link it to your newly created gmail.

Once you have registered your account, you will see your name in the top left corner. From there you can select the dropdown arrow and go to the account settings to set up your PayPal account and add any other account preferences. There is not much more to it than that. You can start listing items.

Finding Items To Resell

My favorite places to find cheap items to resell are below. This isn’t an all inclusive list. Get creative and think outside the box. You may come up with some brilliant ideas that you can come back and share with the rest of us. You may be surprised at the amount of cheap items you find that others are searching for, and are willing to pay much more than you bought it for.

I’ll never forget the first item I ever sold on Ebay. It certainly did not make me rich, BUT it was an exciting moment and it got me hooked.  I picked it up at a garage sale for .10. I had no idea what it was but it was interesting and it looked old. I was trying to figure out what it was when the sweet old lady came over and explained to me that it was an old fish skinner.

My family and I all love fishing so I figured I should take a chance on it. My husband thought I was crazy. He told me it was junk and he couldn’t believe I was actually going to buy it. Then she said I could have it for ten cents so it was a no brainer. I posted it on Ebay and it sold for $19.50 + shipping. Not too bad considering it cost me .10 and it took me about 10 minutes at the post office to complete the transaction. Not only did I make a sweet profit, but I also got to tell my husband “ I told you so.”

  1. Yard Sales – This is definitely my favorite way to find cool items at cheap prices. Plus, I just love yard selling anyways, so it’s a win-win for me. The downside, depending on where you live this option may be seasonal. We typically have tons of yard sales all summer long and then nothing until the following year.
  2. Thrift Stores – Goodwill, Salvation Army, Savers, Habitat For Humanity, Saint Vincents, etc…
  3. Craigslist – Check the “free” section under community. I have found some amazing stuff that people are just giving away. Sometimes people just don’t have the time to deal with trying to sell items or they are in a hurry to get things out of their house. You can also look under the items that are listed for sale. You may find some unique items of value that you can pick up cheap.
  4. Facebook Marketplace – This is another place to look for items similar to how you would look for items on Craigslist.

Listing Your Items For Sale On ebay

Aside from the product itself, your product listing is going to be one of the biggest factors in whether or not you make a sale. There are several ways you can get started listing your items.

The most common way to list an item is to click on the “sell” link on the top left of your homepage. Once there you will see a search bar, type in the item you are going to list and click search. If a similar item is found, you can click the option that says “sell one like this” this will help populate some of the info. If nothing similar is found, you will see an option just above the search results that says, “Can’t find one like yours? Create a new listing”.

I prefer to start my listing a little differently. I start from the search bar on the homepage, as if I were looking for an item to buy. Search for the item you are selling. Once the results load, you will see a filter category on the left hand side that says “show only”, select the “sold items” box.

This will show you all the items that match your search that have actually sold recently. I look for the item that most closely matches what I am selling that has recently sold. Click on that item and you will see an option under the photo that says, “Have one to sell? Sell now.”

I like to do it this way because I know that these listings are working. The items just like mine have just sold, and if you use the, “Have one to sell? Sell now.” option below the sold item, it will auto populate the listing title and description. Of course you will need to adjust it to make sure it accurately describes your item but it gives a great foundation.

You will need to include some good, high quality photos. Ebay allows 12 photos for each listing. You do not need an expensive fancy camera, a good camera on your phone should work fine. It is worth investing a few bucks in a tri-fold display board. You can find them on Amazon here. You might consider picking up a black one as well as a white one. This one is only $3.18 right now and it will definitely help get clearer pictures.

Make sure you get pictures from all angles, top, bottom, sides and any other angles you think need to be shown. Also make sure you disclose any flaws and include pictures of those flaws.

If you are looking for some simple side hustles to make some extra cash, you may want to check this out, Become A Secret Shopper.

Packing And Shipping Your Items

This is one of the most important steps of the entire process. For several reasons. First, if not done right, it can end up costing you money. Second, if not done right it will get you poor seller ratings. Either of these will hurt your bottom line.

Set yourself up with a little packing & shipping station. Make sure you have all your supplies handy. Start a small collection of boxes of all different sizes. You should not have to go out and spend money on boxes. Get out and talk to people at your local convenience stores, super markets, restaurants, whatever you have near you.

I have a little retirement center down the street from me that I noticed had a dumpster full of boxes one day so I went in and asked them if I could take some and they were more than happy to give them to me and then they told me when they got their supplies in and they let me come pick through them every week.

I used to get annoyed by those newspaper flyers that were thrown in my driveway every week, not anymore. Save them to wrap items in that you are shipping. You will start to find things all around that you can hang onto for shipping.

There were only a few items I purchased. One of those that really is a must have, is a postal scale. Amazon has a really good one for less than $20 bucks. It runs on batteries or you can plug it in. You can find that postal scale here.

I learned the hard way how important it is to be able to weigh your items properly ahead of time. I even tried my home scale first. I tried weighing myself first without the package, then with the package, thinking I could figure out the weight. It does not work and it is not worth saving the one-time investment.

When you list your item for sale, it will ask you to select the shipping method. I typically choose either USPS Priority Mail or USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate box. Let’s talk a little about both options.

USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate box – The flat rate boxes are great because you can pick them up for free at the post office and they are a flat rate. With these boxes (or flat rate envelopes) you do not have to calculate shipping costs, they are simply a flat rate based on the size. The downfall is that they can be expensive. This option is great for heavy items because it is typically cheaper due to the weight. For example, books.

If you were selling a small lightweight plastic ashtray, it would probably be cheaper for your customer to use USPS Priority Mail.

USPS Priority Mail – This is where the postal scale comes in. I cannot tell you how many times I ended up covering part of the shipping cost myself because I didn’t have a scale at home and I calculated the weight wrong. When you select this shipping option you will be asked to enter the package dimensions along with the weight. From there, ebay will list a shipping price range next to the item. Depending on where the seller lives, ebay will calculate the final shipping cost for the buyer at checkout.

Make sure you have found the box you will be shipping your item in. I will actually completely package my item, tape it up and write someplace on the box which item it is so that I can get a really accurate weight. If you weigh the item without it being packaged, you will end up paying more. Remember that the box, along with the packaging material, all adds a little extra weight.

Final Note on Shipping – ebay offers an option to print your shipping label directly from your ebay account. If at all possible, use that option.

I didn’t use that for the first year, and I wish I had. First, you get a discount on the shipping cost for doing your shipping through ebay. So, if you print your label through your ebay account, you keep a little extra of the shipping cost collected.

Secondly, the buyers info and your info is printed on the label for you (if you can’t print on a label that is okay. I just print to paper and tape it on). This assures you don’t make any mistakes when writing out the name or address.

Third, the buyer does not see any of the calculated shipping costs. This may not seem like a big deal but it can turn into a pain in your ass. The last time I shipped without printing from home was for this reason. The buyer paid $6.12 for shipping. When I shipped the item, the actual shipping cost ended up being $5.03.

The post office prints a big sticker that goes on the front showing $5.03 paid. The day the buyer received the package I received a message demanding a refund for the overpayment in shipping costs. A partial refund for shipping is not something you can do through your ebay account. You have to do it through PayPal, then call ebay and request your seller fees be adjusted. Then they have to verify the partial refund.

It’s a pain in the ass but if you don’t do it, they are going to leave you bad feedback which will discourage others from buying from you. Save yourself the hassle and print the label from your account. If you do not have a printer at home, you can still select the option to print and then save the label to a thumb drive or to your google drive and stop by your local Office Max or similar store and pay the .20 (or whatever it is in your area) to print it there.

The last reason I love printing the shipping label from home, if there is a huge line in the post office, I can just drop my package and leave. Ebay automatically uploads the tracking number and tells the buyer that the item has been shipped and keeps the tracking info updated.

If you do not choose to print from home, or if you use the flat rate boxes, make sure that you go back into your ebay account and mark the item as shipped once you have shipped the item. Also make sure to add the tracking number.

Fees Associated With Selling On ebay

Ebay allows 50 free listings per month. If you want to list more than 50 items in one month, it will cost you .30 for each listing. If an item sells, you do pay a small “sellers fee”. The sellers fee is a percentage of the final selling price.

In most cases, the sellers fee is 10%. There are a few exceptions to this. For example, Books, DVD’s, Movies & Music are 12%. Guitars and Basses are 3.5% and Heavy Equipment is 2%. Ebay offers some other options to this fee structure that you can check out here if you would like.

Payment processing fees. The easiest way to get paid for your items sold through ebay  is through PayPal. Unfortunately, you end up with one more fee added to your bottom line in exchange for this payment processing option. The fee for using and accepting PayPal payments is 2.9% + .30. I can tell you from experience, without this option, you would lose a lot of sales so I would not go without it.

Ebay offers a pretty good calculator you can use to figure out what your bottom line would be for a sale after you calculate in ebay’s seller fees as well as the PayPal fees. You simply insert your original purchase price of the item, the price the item sold for, the shipping fee charged, the actual shipping fee paid and the sales tax rate in your state. The calculator then calculates your profit after fees. You can check out the calculator here.

Below is an example of a recent item I sold this week. It was nothing big. Something I picked up at a yard sale for a dollar. I just thought it was a cool looking old bike pump but it turns out it is an old WW II Jeep Willy’s Tire Pump. It sold for $41.00. I didn’t make a ton of money but it was a nice profit and it was only one of several items I sold this week. I’ve included a picture of the listing and the calculator I am talking about.

Helpful Tools

There are a few Free Apps you can download for your phone that will help you as you get started.

  1. Ebay Mobile App – Even if you are not planning on selling through Ebay, download their app for your phone. It has a feature that lets you search for items by taking a picture. I use this all the time. If I see an item that I think may be worth some money, I will just use the search by picture feature on their app and see what similar items are being sold for on Ebay. If you find a similar item you can then type in the name of the item in the search bar and filter by “sold items”. This allows you to see exactly how much that item has sold for and on what date.
  2. Google Assistant – I also downloaded the google assistant app. Similarly to the Ebay app, this allows you to search google by photo. If I can’t find an item on Ebay, I can take a picture of it and search google to figure out exactly what I have.
  3. BookScouter – Lastly, I use an app called BookScouter. Textbooks aren’t cheap and they can bring in some good money. People will sometimes sell their used textbooks cheap at yard sales or donate them to thrift stores. If you find used textbooks, you can scan them with the BookScouter app and it will tell you how much you can sell the book back for. If you decide to purchase it, you can sell it directly through BookScouter. They will send you a prepaid shipping label and everything. It is an easy way to make some quick extra cash.

Make Money Proofreading | Work From Home

Proofreading

Proofreading jobs are in high demand. That means You have an opportunity to make money proofreading from home.

In today’s market, having an online presence is vital to the success of many businesses and that means many people are creating more digital content. That content may be in the form of blogs, email marketing, social media posts, e-books or even posting ads on craigslist.

Regardless of how someone chooses to get their content in front of their audience, the creator wants to make sure it’s great content, and that it is free of grammatical and spelling errors. This is where you come in as a proofreader.

Keep in mind, these jobs aren’t for everyone. Although you don’t have to be an English professor, you do need to be competent in the correct word usage, punctuation, and spelling. If that sounds like you, a job in proofreading may be a perfect fit.

Proofreading jobs have a ton of great benefits.

  • You can make money proofreading to replace your full-time job or as a side hustle.
  • Work as much or as little as you want. You decide your income potential.
  • Proofreading jobs can be done from home, or anywhere with internet access.
  • You can work as a proofreader from anywhere in the world.
  • You can choose to work as a freelance proofreader or work for a company.
  • Whether you are a beginner or an experienced proofreader, you can do this work.

What does a proofreader Do?

Simply put, a proofreader is tasked with reading somebody else’s written or printed word and marking or correcting any errors. Proofreaders take that final look at a piece of writing to make sure it is perfect.

Thanks to technological advancements and available software, many basic spelling and grammatical errors can be caught during the writing process but it still cannot replace the human component. Check out these two examples:

  1. My son was at there house.
  2. My son was at thier house.

The first sentence is incorrect. The second sentence had the correct use of their but it was spelled incorrectly. My basic software recognized that I had misspelled the word their in the second sentence but it could not differentiate between which their, there or they’re I should be using.

I am sure that someday when we are all in our flying cars, we will have perfected computer software that will be able to proofread far better than any human. For now, the human eye is what’s needed in order to make sure that people’s content is perfected before they put it out for the world to see.

How much money can you make as a proofreader?

According to the latest statistics from the to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for a proofreader is $39,140 and that varies up to $63,080. That is an hourly wage of $18.82 – $30.33. This just confirms you really can make money as a proofreader.

If you would like to read more statistical data on careers as a proofreader, you can check out the full details at the Bureau of Labor Statistics website here.

Finding Proofreading Jobs on Job Boards

There are several job boards you can use to search for work-from-home jobs, including proofreading jobs. The most common job boards you are probably familiar with are indeed.com, monster.com, careerbuilder.com and flexjobs.com.

You can use any of these job boards to search for remote jobs but flexjobs.com is the only online job board specific to remote jobs. The downside, Flexjobs charges $14.95 a month for a membership. I would suggest you start with the list above and see if you find something that fits your needs there, if not, you can check out Flexjobs for more options.

If you have found some good work-from-home proofreading jobs that are not on this list, I would love to hear about them in the comments.

Wealthy Affiliate Review – Best Affiliate Marketing Program of 2020

Wealthy Affiliate Review

If you are familiar with my blog, you’ll know that I’m passionate about finding ways you can save money and supplement your income online. You may have read my blog post Make Money With Affiliate Marketing

In that post I talk about what affiliate marketing is and how to start making money with affiliate marketing. In this post I want to go more in depth into Wealthy Affiliate and give you my full Wealthy Affiliate Review.

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. This means I get a commission if you decide to make a purchase through one of my links. This is at no additional cost to you. Please read my disclosure for more information.

What is Affiliate Marketing

If you are new to the world of Affiliate Marketing, google defines Affiliate Marketing as, “A marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays commission to an external website for traffic or sales generated from its referrals.”

Basically, you promote a product (preferably one that you yourself like and would use) to your readers, viewers, friends, family, acquaintances or whoever else you can get it the product in front of.

If the product is purchased via your link, you earn a commission for that sale. It’s really a pretty simple concept. Putting all the pieces together is what sometimes gets complicated for people. Which is really where Wealthy Affiliate comes in.

So, Who or what is Wealthy Affiliate?

Wealthy Affiliate is an affiliate marketing platform. It was created back in 2005 by two friends Carson and Kyle who wanted to help others find success online. So far they have helped 1.5 million internet entrepreneurs.

I consider Wealthy Affiliate to be an “all-in-one” affiliate marketing platform. Within Wealthy Affiliate you have your website builder, that is where you will host your website, build your content, register your domain, site security, manage your business email, perform keyword research, register as an affiliate and so much more.

Not having to pay 10 different companies for 10 different services for my one website is a HUGE time saver, cost saver and convenience.

Another huge convenience is the ability to find affiliate programs from within your Wealthy Affiliate account. You can search by category, what’s currently trending, popular keywords, country or even by payout options. It really is an all-in-one platform.

Why I Joined Wealthy Affiliate

I was fairly new to the world of blogging when I found Wealthy Affiliate. I had spent several hundred dollars on courses teaching you how to get started blogging.

I had purchased a course on how to start a blog (how to actually create my website). Then I purchased a course on monetizing your blog and then an ebook on SEO using Pinterest for gaining traffic. Then there was the courses on email marketing. It really never ends. There truly is so much to learn.

Of course there were a ton of free resources I used and continue to use to grow my knowledge but starting my business was not cheap. In one of the courses I took on monetizing my blog it talked about affiliate marketing. I went out and did my own research on affiliate marketing and stumbled across Wealthy Affiliate.

When I saw that they offered a free starter membership I figured there was nothing to lose so I signed up. Once inside the members area, I was blown away at the training available. To be honest I was kinda pissed that I had spent so much money on all these other courses when it was all available within Wealthy Affiliate.

Don’t get me wrong, some of the courses that I had paid for were well worth the money. They taught me valuable information that I couldn’t put a price on. Classes that, if I had to do it all over again, I would still take and that I still recommend to this day.

However, within Wealthy Affiliate I learned all about how to build a website, how to write quality content, how to do proper keyword research and how to optimize my content for SEO.

Ratings Breakdown

Price – Overall rating of 4.8 The starter membership is free. It can’t get much better than that. Although the benefits are limited, you aren’t paying for them so I still gave it five stars. I find it hard to complain about free.

The premium membership is $49 a month which I know can be expensive which is why I rated it a little lower, however for everything that is included, it is still cheaper than the combined total you would pay if you purchased each of those services separately.

Training – Overall rating of 4.2 The training at Wealthy Affiliate is one of the reasons I joined as a premium member. Although the training is limited as a starter member, it is still extremely valuable.

Premium members have an overwhelming amount of training. At times some is repetitive which is the only reason I did not give it a 5. Training for Premium Members Include: Affiliate Bootcamp, Courses, Online Classrooms, Video Replays, Webinars, Tutorials and much more.

Tools – Overall rating of 4 One of my favorite tools within Wealthy Affiliate is Jaaxy. It is a research tool that helps you find good keyword tools to use that will help you rank with google and other search engines.

As a starter member you are limited to 30 searches a month but as a premium member you have unlimited searches. Jaaxy offers a free trial if you were to sign up with them on your own but after the trial their membership fee is $49 a month.

This tool itself would cover your monthly Wealthy Affiliate Membership fee. You also get a great site content writing platform, writing templates (including a privacy policy), integrated email (giving you a professional email address) @yourwebsitename.

Website Builder – Overall rating of 4.6 Very user friendly. You do not have to be “techy” to build your website. Whether you are a starter member or a premium member you will be able to choose a theme to start with and you will be walked through customizing it to fit your needs.

I rated this a little higher for the premium membership only because you are given many more themes to choose from and some themes are more customizable than others.

WordPress Hosting – Overall rating of 4.5 Wealthy Affiliate uses WordPress. Regardless of whether you are a free starter member or a premium member you will have the same access here. I have found WordPress to be super user friendly. WordPress offers thousands of free plugins to meet your needs.

Support – Overall rating of 4.2 The overall support at Wealthy Affiliate is amazing. I rated it a little on the low side for the starter membership only because I think the live chat is such a valuable resource and it is only available to starter members for the first seven days.

As a premium member you get access to live support 24/7, Q & A, blog reviews etc. Wealthy Affiliate also has amazing Site Support. I ran into my first technical issue last weekend (it was a Sunday) and I submitted a site support ticket online. I received an email with a resolution in less than 30 minutes.

Affiliate Commission – Overall rating of 4.7 Wealthy Affiliate has a very generous commission on all affiliate sales. I rated it a little lower as a starter member because the commission rate is half that of a premium member but you have to expect some differences there.

I am going to go into more detail below about the commissions and the money you could bring in as an affiliate simply by promoting Wealthy Affiliate alone.

Extra Perks

One more thing I can’t leave out, is the Las Vegas Super Affiliate Conference. Every year Wealthy Affiliate hosts an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas for its “Super Affiliates”.

To become a Super Affiliate, you need to refer 300 people to Wealthy Affiliate in the calendar year. The event is Vegas is not some cheap thrown together little thing either. This is a sweet 4 day event with all expenses covered.

If you are a premium member with Wealthy Affiliate and you make it your goal to become a super affiliate and get to Vegas for that conference, remember that you will not only be having an amazing time in Vegas but look below at the income you will have brought in from those 300 people you referred.

Income Potential

OK, so the real question everyone always has is, how much money can I make? Unfortunately, the only honest answer I can give you is…. it depends. I know that isn’t an answer anyone wants to hear so I put together a couple examples that I hope will give you some clarity.

If you are a starter member and you refer:

  • 12 new Wealthy Affiliate Members per year (1 new member per month) you would earn $1,599.

If  you are a premium member and you refer:

  • 12 new Wealthy Affiliate Members per year (1 new member per month) you would earn $3,198.

If you are a starter member and you refer:

  • 300 new Wealthy Affiliate Members per year (This is the Las Vegas Conference Qualifier) you would earn $39,975.

You are a premium member and you refer:

  • 300 new Wealthy Affiliate Members per year (This is the Las Vegas Conference Qualifier) you would earn $79,950.

Make Money With Affiliate Marketing

Work From Home

Disclaimer: I use affiliate links on here which means that if you purchase anything through my affiliate links, I receive commission at no additional cost to you. My views and opinions are never influenced by anybody but myself because I only promote products that I love!

Making some extra cash online can be a huge blessing. Unfortunately, getting started can be overwhelming. If you search in Google for, “ways to make money online” you will get an endless search result.

Filtering through those results gets tiresome. Unless you are already familiar with affiliate marketing, network marketing, creating passive income, side hustles, etc. it may feel like you are reading a foreign language.

Hopefully, I can help clear some of it up for you. I will be writing individual posts explaining each of these methods of making money online and sharing my number one way to make money within each method. We’ll start with affiliate marketing.

What is Affiliate Marketing

Google defines affiliate marketing as: “A marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays commission to an external website for traffic or sales generated from its referrals.”

Basically, you promote a product (preferably one that you yourself like and use) to your readers, viewers, friends, family, acquaintances or whoever else you can get the product in front of. This id done using a personalized link provided to you by the company you are promoting the product for.

If the product is purchased via your link, you earn a commission for that sale. When done correctly, affiliate marketing can benefit you as the affiliate, the consumer and the company you are promoting the product for.

Make money working from home

How do you get started as an affiliate?

Getting started as an affiliate is really easy and normally takes just a few minutes. Typically, there is no cost to become an affiliate since you are trying to help sell a product. Most companies will instantly approve affiliates, but there are some that have an approval process to go through. Many times these sites will require you to have a website or a domain name in order to be approved.

Types Of Affiliate Programs

There are literally millions of products out there that you can promote as an affiliate. When I was first trying to make sense of affiliate marketing and I was trying to decide how I would promote products and which affiliate programs I would join, I found it easier to think about affiliate marketing in two different categories.

  1. General Product Affiliate Programs – Amazon would be a good example of a general product affiliate program. You can literally choose from a million different products you want to promote. It could be a tent for camping or an electric toothbrush you love. Those are pretty general products.
  2. Niche Specific Affiliate Products – This could be an awesome course you found that teaches people how to start a blog or maybe the latest ketogenic supplement. Those would both be targeting customers within a specific niche.

Companies Offering Affiliate Programs

There are thousands of companies out there that offer affiliate programs. Listed below are a few of my favorites. I am an affiliate with each of these companies. If there is a company out there that you like to work with or that you love to buy from, reach out to them or check their website, they may offer an affiliate program.

  • Wealthy Affiliate – Wealthy Affiliate not only offers thousands of affiliate options but they also provide a complete platform to promote your products on. This is a totally free program although they do offer a “premium” package upgrade. Currently the premium upgrade is $49 per month. If you upgrade within the first seven days of joining you get the first month for $19. The premium plan comes with a ton of training and benefits but you can totally get started with the free plan.
  • ClickFunnels – ClickFunnels is probably one of my favorite companies AND tools to use since joining this world of online marketing. Russell Brunson, the creator of ClickFunnels is from my hometown of Boise Idaho and he has this wildly successful company. ClickFunnels offers products and services to help entrepreneurs grow their business online. As an affiliate you earn great commissions and you have many great products you can promote.
  • Amazon Associates – Amazon Associates is also easy and free to join. A huge benefit of choosing Amazon as an affiliate partner is that they have over a million products to choose from to promote. Regardless of what your interests are, you’ll find something that will fit within your niche to promote. You can earn up to 10% in advertising fees.
  • Click Bank – You can make up to 75% commissions with ClickBank! You can get paid as often as every week.
  • ShareASale – ShareASale is another great affiliate program. They work with over 3,900 merchants so you have plenty of offers to promote with this company too. Again, it was super simple to get started with ShareAsale.

Promoting your Affiliate Products

Promoting your affiliate products can be done online on whatever platform you choose. Sometimes this will depend on your niche or maybe even your personal preference. What works for one person may not work for others. I’ll give you a couple examples.

My daughter is 22, and she is really into fashion and makeup. She has thousands of followers on every social media platform you can think of. She can take photos of herself wearing some new makeup or a cute new outfit she bought and share a link to it on any one of her social media pages and she could sell those products with little effort. That wouldn’t work for me and I wouldn’t see the same success.

For myself, I like to blog about ways you can make extra money online. One of the best ways to do that, is with affiliate marketing. Another great way to make money online is blogging. My favorite way to do both of these things is through Wealthy Affiliate. Not only can you host your blog within Wealthy Affiliate, but they will also teach you how to set up your website, how to optimize your website and your posts for search engines, and how to promote products for affiliate marketing.

Because this is a product I use and love, I have written a detailed review on Wealthy Affiliate via a blog post. I can then share that post with others who are interested in making money online, affiliate marketing or people wanting to start a blog. If anyone joins Wealthy Affiliate using my link, I would receive a commission.

Final thoughts

Find what works for you. If you enjoy sharing amazing cake decorating videos and recipes on pinterest, find some affiliate programs where you can promote some amazing new cake decorating supplies you have found that would directly relate to the readers who would be checking out the recipes or videos you are sharing.

If you are a member of a bunch of Facebook groups for new moms and you found the coolest new bottles that you can promote as an affiliate, share it with those like minded group members (as long as the Facebook group you are in allows it).

Bottom line, get creative. There are an unlimited amount of ways you can promote products as an affiliate.

As always, I would love to connect with you on Facebook and best of luck to you on your journey to financial freedom.

13 Best Side Hustles To Make Money

13 Best Side Hustles To Make Money

Disclaimer: If you came here hoping to find an overnight get rich quick scheme, you just aren’t going to find it here. Sorry. What you will find is a list of real opportunities that you can choose to pursue in your spare time to bring in some extra cash each month.

I think we’ve all found ourselves looking for ways to make some extra money at some point. Whether you are just trying to make ends meet, or maybe you are trying to escape your 9-5. Whatever the reason, I hope you find something here that will work for you.

I have put together this list of the 13 Best Side Hustles To Make Money. This list covers a broad range of money making side hustles. Regardless of your background or skill set, there is something here for everyone.

Advertise Using Your Car

I am starting my list with this side hustle simply because it does not get much simpler. It literally takes no effort on your part other than getting registered. The most popular company to offer this opportunity is Wrapify. With Wrapify you can make an average of $190 – $450 a month depending on the ads (and how large of an ad you want on your vehicle). You can get started with Wrapify by visiting their website HERE.

Amazon Trade-In

Although this option doesn’t put extra cash in your pocket, I decided to include it in my list because it really is a good program that is so easy to use. Also, because you can get pretty much anything off of Amazon with the credit you will earn, so if you need to use the Amazon credit for some of your groceries or household items, it will still help you with cash flow.

Amazon’s trade-in program makes it super easy to sell some of your old items that are just sitting around in your closet. Typically, Amazon will accept old textbooks, cell phones, tablets, kindles, video games, DVD’s, Blue Rays etc… You can register for a free trade-in account on Amazon then you simply answer questions about what you would like to trade in.

Amazon will give you an offer and it is up to you whether you want to accept it. If you choose to accept, Amazon will give you a postage paid shipping label. Once they receive the item, the money is deposited to your Amazon account and you can use it as you please.

Sell On Amazon

I know, Amazon again. There is just so much opportunity with Amazon right now. Aside from their trade-in program, Amazon offers several other ways you can make money by working with them.

  • Make money as an affiliate for Amazon – Unfortunately, Amazon require’s you to have your own domain in order to be accepted as an affiliate. With millions of products to choose from on Amazon, it’s a great company to work with as an affiliate. I will talk a little more about making money as an affiliate below.
  • FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon) – Amazon FBA allows you to sell products like you would as a retailer except Amazon becomes your storefront. If you would like more info about FBA, I suggested checking out Seth Kniep on YouTube. He does some great training on the subject.
  • Merch by Amazon – This is my new favorite side hustle on Amazon. You get to submit t-shirt designs to be sold on Amazon. There is no upfront costs. Once your design is approved Amazon will display the designed shirts for sale and once someone selects the shirt to purchase, Amazon will print it at that time and you will earn “royalties” for the sale.

Become A Secret Shopper

I have been doing this for years and I am sure I will continue doing it for many more years. It is a simple way to make some extra cash.

There are a lot of companies out there that you can get registered with for free. Most of the tasks only take a few minutes to complete. If you want more info on how to get started as a Secret Shopper, check out my post Become A Secret Shopper.

Start A Blog

This is my favorite of the list. Obviously if you are reading this, you know that this is something I do myself. It can be a very profitable side hustle and in many instances it can turn into a full time income.

Starting a blog can be a lot of work though and it usually takes some time to start making money from your blog. With that said, if you are willing to put in the time and effort, it can be a life changer.

There is a ton that goes into creating a blog, I highly suggest you invest in a program that will walk you through it. I spent months and months on different free blogging email courses and each one just confused me more and more. If I could do it all over again, I would start with Wealthy Affiliate.

It’s totally free to get started with Wealthy Affiliate. Yes, they will offer an up sell to their premium membership, but you do not need it to get started. The free training covers everything from setting up your wordpress site, writing your blog content, using proper keywords and getting ranked in google. You can sign up for Wealthy Affiliate for free by clicking here

Sell Your Old Textbooks

All the college students out there, and parents of college students, know how freaking expensive textbooks are. If you have old textbooks lying around the house, sell them for some extra cash.

There is a free phone app called BookScouter. Once you download the app, you select “sell” then you can either scan the bar code or search by ISBN and it will tell you the value of your book.

I often go through the book sections of my local thrift stores and look for textbooks. When I find some, all I have to do is scan them with the app and see if they are worth picking up to re-sell on BookScouter.

Food Delivery

Although this service has been around for a few years now, it is becoming more and more popular and I believe it is a trend that is going to continue to grow. Gone are the days when you used to have to settle for pizza or Chinese food if you wanted to stay in and have food delivered.

Now you can order food at most of your favorite restaurants and have a company like DoorDash or Uber Eats deliver your food to your door. This is only possible if they have delivery drivers though. If you would like to make some extra cash delivering meals, you can get started with DoorDash or Uber Eats.

Deliver Groceries

Similar to delivering meals, you can earn some extra cash by delivering groceries. There are many people who are homebound that are unable to go to the grocery store and they will pay to have their groceries delivered. Consider registering with Instacart. Not only will you be helping yourself but you can help others also.

Affiliate Marketing

Making money with Affiliate Marketing is probably my top pick for the best side hustles to make money. It can become a really profitable side hustle. Many people make this their full-time job and they do very well with it.

Aside from Amazon, (which I mentioned above) there are countless numbers of companies you can promote as an affiliate to earn commission from. My top picks are listed below with links if you would like to check them out further.

Sell Products You Already Buy And Use

This is a great way to make some extra cash but also a great way to save some money. A lot of companies now use individuals as distributors. This can benefit you and the company.

For many years I have used Avon for most of my beauty products. I have always purchased their products through a friend of mine. One day she suggested I become an Avon Representative. (No this doesn’t mean I have to have big makeup parties at people’s houses)

It did cost me $25 to get set up, but now that I am an Avon Representative I get my products at a discounted price AND I make a commission on all the sales I make. You can do this with Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Essential Oils etc…

Become A Transcriptionist

Transcriptionists are paid to listen to audio files and convert that audio into text. This work is typically in pretty high demand and can be found in the medical, legal and general industry. Swati from HearMeFolks has a great blog post with all the info you’ll need about getting started as a Transcriptionist. You can read that article here: 17 Best Online Transcription Jobs For Beginners

Just Answer

You can get paid to answer other people’s questions on justanswer.com. People come to this website to ask experts questions from a wide range of different categories. If you have an expertise in a specific field, get registered with justanswer.com.

You can start earning extra cash for the knowledge you already have. The downside is that the amount you are paid depends on what the person you helped is willing to pay based on how much they believe you helped.

Wrapping It Up

If you need to make some extra cash, this list gives you some good ideas to get you started. They don’t cost a bunch of up front cash so you really have nothing to lose.

Find something that interests you and give it a shot. I would love to hear your success stories or if you have found an awesome side hustle you want to share, let me know about it in the comments below.

Notion Cash. Scam Or Legit?

If you are familiar with my blog,  you know I’m always looking for a good side hustle. With the internet, we have a ton of great opportunities to earn some extra cash online. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of scams out there.

Lately I have been seeing more about a new opportunity from a company called Notion Cash so I wanted to check it out and see if it’s a legit way to earn some extra cash or if it’s just another scam.

Notion Cash advertises the ability to earn some serious cash. With a $25 signup bonus, a  $15 referral bonus and an average payout of $30n per task that you complete.

Notion Cash | Scam or Legit

What Is Notion Cash

According to their website:

“Earn money by completing simple tasks and answering questions. For limited time only. $25 Sign Up Bonus!” They claim to have paid out an impressive 4.2 million dollars and boasts 185k members.

They also state they have been in business for 3 years but the bottom of their website gives a copyright date of 2019 and I have been unable to find any info on the company prior to 2019.

How it works:

  1. Sign Up
  2. Choose A Task
  3. Complete A Task
  4. Get Paid

Notion Cash offers:

  • Fast Support
  • Trusted By Many
  • No limits
  • Quick Payouts
  • All Payout Options (although it says all payout options, you cannot request a paper check. Meaning, you must provide access to some sort of personal banking information)
  • Clean Dash

Sounds simple right. Read on to see if it is too good to be true.

So who is behind the company<hr>

On the “About Us” page, Notion Cash does not give too much background information on the company itself other than stating that it is a subsidiary of Notion Cash, LLC and that it is headquartered in NY.

The actual address given is a “virtual address” that anyone can use. This alone is not necessarily a red flag. A lot of online companies will use a virtual address.

If in fact they are a subsidiary of Notion Cash, LLC based out of New York, they should be registered with New York’s Department of State, Division of Corporations.

Each state maintains a database of all business entities registered within their state. I did a quick search on New York’s Department of State’s website and there was no active or inactive registration for Notion Cash or Notion Cash, LLC.

If you would like to perform your own search, you can access New York’s Department of State, Division of Corporations, HERE.

Through further research I was able to find that Notion Cash also operated under the business name Kids Earn Money, LLC and Kids Paid Money.

Notion Cash Testimonials

As we would expect, Notion Cash’s reinforces their legitimacy by displaying customer testimonials on their website. They have several video testimonials as well as brief written testimonials.

They have recently updated their video testimonials after they were exposed using video testimonials by individuals hired on fiverr.

There are still several examples of poor customer testimonials. Here are two examples:

  1. This one is by Phillip M

“I’ve been able to make hundreds of dollars weekly with Notion Cash by inviting my friends. All time I’ve wasted on Facebook and Instagram is finally giving me something useful!”

Notion Cash Testimonial

The problem with this testimonial, is that this is a picture of musician Liam Payne from his official Instagram account.

Notion Cash | Scam or Legit

I cannot say that Philip M. did not use Notion Cash and make money with it. I will say I would never trust a testimonial coming from someone who is using someone else’s photo as their own.

I could be totally wrong but my guess is that Liam Payne does not need to go undercover and make money using Notion Cash. You can find this photo and more about Liam Payne on his Instagram HERE.

The next testimonial was written by Ashley Pizalle

“Notion Cash changed my life. i signed up 4 months ago and made over $25,000 in the summer. I was able to get a car for my senior year saving for college.”

Notion Cash | Scam or Legit

Aside from the unrealistic earning statements, the other problem with this specific testimonial is this:

This is a picture of actress and model Ashley Benson. This specific picture is subject to copyright so I won’t post that specific picture but if you are interested in checking it out, you can find it HERE

Here is a similar photo from her public Instagram account for comparison:

Notion Cash | Scam or Legit

Again, I could be totally wrong, but my guess is that Ashley Benson, probably doesn’t use Notion cash as a source of income. Also, she is not in High School.

You can find this photo and more about Ashley Benson on her Instagram account HERE.

Currently there are only 4 written testimonials on there homepage and I was able to show the inaccuracy of 2 of them with ease.

Another huge red flag.

My Experience with Notion Cash

To be honest, my trial experiment with Notion Cash was very brief. Because of that, I do not have much personal experience to share with you all. What I can tell you is this:

It was extremely easy to sign up. All I had to provide was my first and last name and my email address. Then I created a username and password and agreed to the terms and conditions.

As soon as my account was created I was prompted to download an app for my first task. I could not proceed any further until this task was complete. I was unable to even access the “clean dash” they refer to on their  homepage.

At this point I had already done enough research on this so-called company, to know that I did not trust them at all. For that reason, I was not about to download anything to my phone that was being promoted by this company.

I decided I didn’t need to see anything more to know I would not be using Notion Cash as a side hustle. and I quickly uninstalled that app.

Notion Cash Terms of Service

Interestingly, if you do choose to read through the terms of service, you will find it surprisingly easy to read because it is super short and covers pretty much nothing of value.

It goes into no detail about the signup bonus, the referral bonus or about the money earned for completing tasks or anything about money earned for surveys.

It also mentions nothing about payments made.

In fact the only thing I found that came close to addressing the cash people are trying to earn with Notion Cash is when it states that in no event shall Notion Cash be held liable for damages for loss of damages or loss of profits.

This was another red flag for me.

Complaints Against Notion Cash

The amount of complaints seem to be endless if you going looking for them. This is why it is so important to do your research.

When all else fails, always remember you can check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

On July 12, 2019 the BBB released a Consumer Alert in their latest news for the New York Metropolitan Area. Here is an excerpt from the article:

Consumers Report “Notion Cash” and “Kids Earn Money” Collect Personal Info but Don’t Pay for Tasks.

Between January 4 and March 13, 2019, BBB Metro New York received 27 complaints, 35 reviews, and 6 Scam TrackerSM reports about Kids Earn Money LLC, aka Kids Paid Money.

Reports were filed by consumers from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

Consumers often report to BBB that they sign up for what they think is an online marketing agency, where they will earn money by completing “tasks.”

The money appears to tally in the account for each completed task, but when consumers try to apply for payment, often when they reach a $250 threshold or some other set amount, they allege that they are unable to retrieve the promised payment or contact the company for assistance.

To make matters worse, they have also provided the outfit running the scheme with sensitive information such as name, telephone number, email, and in some cases, Cash App or PayPal account information. They also may have provided the names and contact information of friends and family members in the referral process.

One possible purpose of this kind of operation may be data harvesting, for the likely intent of selling the consumers’ information to spammers. There is also the possibility of identity theft

Read the rest of their article here…

The Verdict

I’m sure this comes as no surprise but my official verdict…….

Notion Cash Scam

I would not trust this company at all. If you feel like giving it a try, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

If you’ve tried Notion Cash I would love to hear about your experience. Or if you would like to share your thoughts, drop a message in the comments.

Please share this post and let’s spread the word before anyone else wastes their time or shares their personal information with this company.

Sweatcoin Scam: Can You Make Money with Sweatcoin

Sweatcoin - Get Paid To Walk

If you have been looking for an incentive to get outside and  get more active, or if you’ve just been looking for another simple side hustle to earn some extra cash, you may have come across Sweatcoin.

With all the scams out there it’s important to do your research before you start giving out any of your personal information. Read on for an in-depth review of Sweatcoin so you can decide if it is a scam or a leit way to earn some extra cash.

What is Sweatcoin

In short, Sweatcoin is a free, downloadable app that rewards you for walking or running (outdoors). Rewards are earned in digital currency which can then be exchanged for products, services and experiences.

You will also see promotions come available where you can exchange your Sweatcoins for Amazon gift cards or cash them out for to your PayPal account.

Offers can change daily so you may want to check back often if you do not see anything that interests you today BUT that also means if you see something you really want, it may be gone tomorrow.

Sweatcoin Supported Devices

Currently Sweatcoin is available for download on the iPhone and Android and it can be used with the Apple Watch. Currently, there is no way to sync Sweatcoin to your fitness tracker or other brands of smart watches.

In my opinion, this is one big downside to Sweatcoin. Many people do not want to pack there phone with them while they go out for a run or walk. If I plan to use the app to motivate me to get in some good steps, I don’t want to be focused on carrying my phone around.

Also, my phone does not work well in my back pocket. In my experience with this app, I do not believe it has tracked my steps as accurately, when I have it in my pocket compared to carrying it while I’m out on my walk.

I’m not saying it will be this way for everyone, it has just been my experience with my phone. This is just one more reason why it would be nice to have the ability to sync it with other smartwatches and fitness trackers.

Sweatcoin - Get Paid To Walk

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. This means I get a commission if you decide to make a purchase through one of my links. This is at no additional cost to you. Please read my disclosure for more information.

How to Earn Sweatcoins: The Basics

Sweatcoins can be earned by walking, running, jogging, hiking, bicycling or playing hopscotch with your kids. Simply put, whatever gets you active and moving outdoors.

Unfortunately, some really great physical activities that are stationary like running on the treadmill or using the elliptical or stationary bike will not work due to the algorithm Sweatcoin uses to verify the steps taken.

Make sure you have the Sweatcoin app running on a supported device with you. Currently the app is not supported indoors. However, I have had a lot of my steps taken indoors counted. It will count some of your indoor steps but not accurately and you will miss out on many of them.

Making Money With Sweatcoin

There is definitely some opportunity to make some extra cash or earn some free products with Sweatcoin. Let’s take a look at how Sweatcoins are calculated, how to earn the most Sweatcoins and Sweatcoin hacks

How are Sweatcoins Calculated?

Sweatcoins are earned at a rate of 1 Sweatcoin per 1000 steps minus a 5% conversion fee. This leaves you with .95 Sweatcoins per 1000 steps taken. According to Sweatcoin, on average 65% of the total steps registered by your phone are converted into Sweatcoins.

How To Earn The Most Sweatcoins?

We’ve talked about earning Sweatcoins through your own physical activity but you can increase your Sweatcoin wallet  in a few different ways.

Buddy up: Sweatcoin allows you to send your sweatcoins to a friend through the “send to friend” link in the Sweatcoin app. This allows you to buddy up and collect Sweatcoins together.

My husband and I both have the app installed on our phones and at the end of the week he can send me his sweatcoins that he has accumulated so we can continue to save them up.

Earn Sweatcoins with the apps daily bonuses: This is one of the easiest ways to earn some extra sweatcoins. All you have to do is watch a super short video each day. They don’t show you how long they are but I would estimate around 20 – 30 seconds.

On day 1 you will earn 1 bonus sweatcoin. On day 2 you will earn 2 bonus sweatcoins. On day 3 you will earn 4 bonus sweatcoins. This gives you a total of 7 bonus sweatcoins every 3 days. Or 15 sweatcoins a week.

Keep in mind if you miss a day your streak ends and you start back over at day 1.

Refer a friend: Get 5 free sweatcoins for each friend you refer. This is another really easy way to earn some fast sweatcoins. All your friends and family have to do is download the app with your link (or enter your referral code) and complete the registration.

The app is free to download and super easy to setup so if your friends aren’t interested in using the app long term, you might be able to talk them into just downloading the app and registering in order to get you the referral bonus.

Once their registration is complete. Your referral bonus will be added to your account and they can turn around and delete the app if they don’t want to continue earning free products or cash for themselves.

Upgrade your membership: Although the Sweatcoin app and membership is totally free. You are limited to how many Sweatcoins you can earn daily through your steps. The daily max allotted Sweatcoins is 5.

If you do a lot of physical activity or if you are a runner, you may want to consider upgrading your membership in order to bank more sweatcoins daily. The upgraded memberships are at a cost, but the cost is Sweatcoins so technically, you do not have to pay anything out of pocket for these upgraded memberships.

There are currently 4 membership levels with a 5th in the works.

  1. Mover: This is the basic membership that everyone is started on. This plan allows you to accumulate up to 5 Sweatcoins per day or 150 per month from your converted steps.
  2. Shaker: This plan is the first level upgrade. On the shaker plan you can accumulate up to 10 Sweatcoins per day or 300 per month from your converted steps. In order to upgrade to this plan it will cost you 4.75 Sweatcoins per month.
  3. Quaker: This is the second upgrade option. On the Quaker plan you can accumulate up to 15 Sweatcoins per day or 450 per month from your converted steps. In order to upgrade to this plan it will cost you 20 Sweatcoins per month.
  4. Breaker: The Breaker is the third upgrade option. On the Breaker plan you can accumulate up to 20 Sweatcoins per day or 600 per month from your converted steps. In order to upgrade to this plan it will cost you 30 Sweatcoins per month.
  5. Trouble Maker: This last plan is still in the works and so far there is not much info about what this plan will include or how many Sweatcoins it will cost to upgrade to this plan.

Sweatcoin Hacks. Get Free Sweatcoins

Although I do not suggest people try to hack the system and get free Sweatcoins without putting in the work, I want to provide all the information I can and try to answer everyone’s questions.

Sweatcoins website addresses people’s desire to hack the system and they are confident that they have created a good system and algorithms to combat the ability to hack your way to more Sweatcoins.

Apparently, it will not work to strap your phone to your dog outside and let it go for a run. 🙂 Although now I kind of want to try it.

Below are the top “Sweatcoin Hacks” that I have found.

This hack is time consuming but works. and is easier if you have two phones to use. To test this hack I used my primary phone with my account and then another old phone that I could download and uninstall the app on with a different phone number generated with the text app.

I also tried the shake method from the video below, but it did not work for me. I was able to get up to the 2000 steps pretty easily just from shaking my phone, but it took much more effort than the example in the video. Once Sweatcoin went through its algorithm to convert the steps into Sweatcoins, only about ⅓ of the steps were actually converted.

Sweatcoin. Scam or Legit?

I use Sweatcoin myself and feel confident in saying that it is legit and not a scam. This is not a side hustle I would suggest for making any substantial extra income; however, it is a great way to earn some free cash through Paypal or just a fun way to reward yourself for staying active with their purchasable items.

With that said, anyone can still earn some extra cash or products with Sweatcoin just by walking around and going about your day as usual. If you want to step up your game, get in a little exercise you can earn even more and benefit not only your pocketbook but your health.

I have already mentioned the cons but really the most frustrating thing I have to say about this app is that it kills my phone battery. Of course this could just be my phone.

If you’ve tried Sweatcoin I would love to hear about your experience. Or if you would like to share your thoughts, drop a message in the comments.
